Origin

Pouilly-Fuissé Sur La Roche is produced in the Mâconnais subregion of Burgundy, France. The vineyards are located on the limestone-rich slopes around the village of Fuissé, known for its exceptional terroir and mineral soils.

Variety

This wine is made exclusively from the Chardonnay grape variety, which is the hallmark of the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation.

Production

The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully selected to ensure optimal ripeness and quality. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness and aromatic purity. The wine is then aged on fine lees for several months to enhance texture and complexity, with some cuvées possibly undergoing partial aging in oak barrels to add subtle nuances.

Tasting notes

  • Appearance: Pale golden yellow with brilliant clarity.
  • Aroma: Intense and elegant bouquet featuring white flowers, citrus fruits, and hints of toasted almond and minerality.
  • Palate: Well-balanced with vibrant acidity, creamy texture, and flavors of ripe apple, pear, and subtle buttery notes. The finish is long and mineral-driven.

Food pairings

Ideal to accompany a variety of dishes including:

  • Seafood such as grilled scallops, lobster, and shellfish.
  • White meats like roasted chicken or turkey.
  • Soft cheeses including Brie and Camembert.
  • Light creamy sauces and delicate vegetable dishes.
