Origin

Produced in the Douro Valley, Portugal, a renowned wine region known for its steep terraced vineyards and ideal conditions for Port wine production.

Variety

Colheita Port is made from a blend of traditional Portuguese grape varieties typical of the Douro region, including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, and Tinto Cão.

Production

Messias Colheita Port is a single-vintage tawny Port aged in oak casks for a minimum of seven years. The wine undergoes controlled fermentation and fortification with grape spirit to halt fermentation, preserving natural sweetness and alcohol content. The extended aging in wood imparts complex oxidative characteristics and a refined texture.

Tasting notes

  • Appearance: Deep amber with golden highlights.
  • Aroma: Rich bouquet of dried fruits such as figs and raisins, complemented by notes of toasted nuts, caramel, and subtle spices.
  • Palate: Smooth and full-bodied with balanced sweetness, flavors of honey, nuts, and dried fruit, and a long, elegant finish.

Food pairings

  • Perfect accompaniment to blue cheeses, aged hard cheeses, and foie gras.
  • Pairs well with desserts featuring nuts, caramel, or dried fruits, such as almond tart or fig cake.
  • Can be enjoyed as a digestif on its own or with a fine cigar.
