Origin
Produced in the Givry appellation, located in the Côte Chalonnaise subregion of Burgundy, France. This Premier Cru vineyard site, Petit Pretan, is known for its quality terroir and favorable microclimate.
Variety
100% Pinot Noir grape variety, typical of the Burgundy region and especially suited to the Givry terroir.
Production
The wine is crafted using traditional Burgundian winemaking techniques. Grapes are hand-harvested from the Premier Cru vineyard Petit Pretan. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with regular punch-downs to extract color and tannins. Aging is conducted in French oak barrels, a portion of which are new, for approximately 12 to 18 months to develop complexity and structure.
Tasting notes
The Givry 1er Cru Petit Pretan displays a bright ruby color with garnet hues. On the nose, it offers aromas of red berries such as cherry and raspberry, complemented by subtle floral notes and hints of spice and earthiness. The palate is elegant and well-balanced, with fine tannins and a fresh acidity that supports flavors of red fruit, light minerality, and a lingering finish.
Food pairings
- Roasted or grilled poultry, such as duck or chicken
- Charcuterie and mild cured meats
- Soft cheeses like Brie or Camembert
- Mushroom-based dishes or earthy vegetable preparations
- Lightly spiced pork dishes
