This Madeira is typically crafted from a blend of traditional grape varieties such as Malvasia, Bual, and Tinta Negra, with Tinta Negra often being the principal grape in H.M. Borges blends.

The wine undergoes fortification with grape spirit to halt fermentation, preserving natural sugars and enhancing alcohol content. It is then aged for a minimum of 5 years using the estufagem method or in oak casks, exposing it to controlled heat and oxidation that develop its characteristic flavors and longevity.
