Mastiha of Chios

Mastiha of Chios is a traditional Greek liqueur produced exclusively on the island of Chios, Greece. The product is protected by a PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) status, ensuring its authenticity and unique regional characteristics.

The liqueur is made from the resin of the mastic tree (Pistacia lentiscus var. chia), a rare aromatic resin harvested only on Chios island. This resin imparts a distinctive pine-like, herbal, and slightly sweet flavor profile.

The production process involves distilling the mastic resin with alcohol and water, followed by sweetening to create a balanced liqueur. The resin is carefully harvested by hand during the summer months, ensuring high quality. The distillation preserves the unique aromatic compounds of the mastic resin, resulting in a clear, aromatic spirit.
