Origin
Moscato d'Asti Pitule is produced in the Piedmont region of northwest Italy, specifically within the Asti DOCG zone. This area is renowned for its ideal climate and soil conditions that favor the cultivation of Moscato Bianco grapes.
Variety
The wine is made exclusively from the Moscato Bianco grape variety, known for its aromatic and floral characteristics.
Production
The production of Moscato d'Asti Pitule follows traditional methods with a focus on preserving the natural aromatic profile and sweetness of the Moscato grape. The grapes are harvested early to maintain acidity and freshness. The wine undergoes a partial fermentation process, which is stopped early to retain residual sugar and low alcohol content. This process also creates the characteristic gentle sparkle (frizzante) through natural carbon dioxide retention.
Tasting notes
- Appearance: Pale straw yellow with fine, persistent bubbles.
- Aroma: Intense and fragrant with notes of fresh peach, apricot, orange blossom, and musk.
- Palate: Sweet yet balanced by refreshing acidity, light-bodied with flavors of ripe stone fruits and honey, finishing clean and slightly effervescent.
Food pairings
Moscato d'Asti Pitule pairs excellently with a variety of foods, especially those that complement its sweetness and aromatic profile.
- Light desserts such as fruit tarts, panna cotta, and lemon sorbet.
- Fresh cheeses like ricotta, mascarpone, and mild goat cheese.
- Spicy Asian cuisine, including Thai or Indian dishes, where the sweetness balances heat.
- Fresh fruit and light pastries.
