Origin
The wine is produced in the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation, located in the Côte de Nuits subregion of Burgundy, France. The Chaignots vineyard is a Premier Cru site known for its quality terroir.
Variety
This wine is made exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes, the signature red variety of Burgundy.
Production
The grapes are hand-harvested and undergo traditional Burgundian vinification methods. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel or wooden vats, followed by aging in French oak barrels, a portion of which are new oak, for approximately 12 to 18 months to develop complexity and structure.
Tasting notes
The Nuits St. George Chaignots displays a deep ruby color with aromas of ripe red cherries, blackberries, and subtle earthy notes. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with fine tannins, balanced acidity, and flavors of dark fruit, spices, and a hint of minerality. The finish is long and elegant, reflecting the terroir’s finesse.
Food pairings
- Roasted duck or game birds
- Grilled or braised red meats
- Mushroom-based dishes
- Soft to medium-aged cheeses such as Brie or Camembert
- Hearty stews and casseroles
