Origin
Château Pibarnon is located in the Bandol appellation of Provence, in the south of France. The estate benefits from a Mediterranean climate with warm, dry summers and mild winters, ideal for the cultivation of Mourvèdre grapes.
Variety
The Bandol Red from Château Pibarnon is predominantly made from Mourvèdre grapes, the signature variety of the Bandol region, often complemented by small percentages of Grenache and Cinsault.
Production
The grapes are hand-harvested and undergo traditional vinification methods. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by aging in French oak barrels for approximately 18 to 24 months. This process enhances the wine’s complexity and structure while preserving the varietal character.
Tasting notes
The Bandol Red from Château Pibarnon exhibits a deep ruby color with aromas of dark berries, black cherry, and subtle hints of spices and leather. On the palate, it is full-bodied with firm tannins, balanced acidity, and a long, elegant finish marked by notes of plum and earthy undertones.
Food pairings
- Grilled or roasted red meats such as lamb and beef
- Game dishes including venison and wild boar
- Rich stews and cassoulet
- Mature hard cheeses like aged Comté or Gruyère
