This Port is typically crafted from a blend of traditional Portuguese grape varieties commonly used in Port production, such as Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, and Tinto Cão.

The wine undergoes a traditional Port winemaking process including foot-treading or mechanical crushing of grapes, fermentation with grape skins, and fortification with grape spirit to halt fermentation and preserve natural sweetness. It is then aged for the specified number of years in oak casks to develop complexity and character.
